Antonello Radicchi, Trainer

“Money, without sacrifice, cannot buy culture or learning, but it can certainly buy horses and equipment rendering the rider poorer than he thinks "

I worked with maestro Girardon for three years. In 1990, having done my military service, I opened a centre in Umbria, in the Upper Tiber Valley near Città di Castello where I still work. I did exhibitions in classical training and in doma Vaquera throughout Italy from Città di Castello to Palermo ( Medicavalli-1999 e 2000) in Forlì, Urbino, Turin, Verona, etc. For roughly 15 years and was the only one in Italy to perform high dressage airs with an Arab stallion, both in the saddle and on a long rein. In 2001 I took part in dressage competitions in order to obtain the level I dressage FISE license. In 200… I participated in ANICA dressage competitions qualifying for the Italian championships in Verona and came 2° overall. From 200.. I was a board member of S.I.A.E.C.- Italian School of Classical Equestrian Art. I took part in many stages of Philippe Karl from the first years he came to Italy for the Club 2000 of Pavarotti, an equestrian centre run by Tiziano Bedonni, training some of Maestro Luciano Pavarotti’s horses for show jumping. Meeting maestro Karl opened me to the philosophy of “lightness” which I felt to be right, functional and motivating for a correct and justified equitation. In 1999 I took part in stages in isodynamics with maestro Andrè Bourlet Slavkov. During 2000-2001, I took an active part with the municipality of San Fratello in Sicily in promoting and developing of the San Fratellano horse. Subsequently I ran courses in local centres and studs of this original race which now has its own stud book. I also trained some of these horses, presenting them in dressage competitions with notable and winning results. At the moment I still work with these horses in various disciplines; vaulting, schooling and working. In 2000 I participated in stages in France in Philippe Karl’s yard with a San Fratellano horse who then became regional dressage champion with Maria Francesca Patrizi. I also studied the numerous currents of thought deriving from the introduction of ethology in the equestrian field such as natural horsemanship, imprinting, and the like taking part in many stages. Since 2003 I have been in charge of the Reschio stud, exclusively dedicating myself to private show at the Reschio Castle and managing the impregnation of mares, the birth, progress and training of foals always on an ethological basis. www.reschio.com Thanks to this “shutting myself” in this environment far from the chaotic succession of training so many, too many horses, stages, competitions and shows, I was able to concentrate my attention on a “qualitative”, research into both theoretical and practical ethology. Without the pressure of having to “demonstrate” and “achieve immediate results”, these came and are, for me, the most important. From the beginning of my career I have trained and re-educated more than 500 subjects in all manner of disciplines: vaulting, carriage driving, show jumping, work training, long reins, etc. From the observation of horses in the herd, from the study of their functional anatomy, the application of ethology in the relationship between man and horse, I developed a technique of association of the bit and head collar with the intent of applying, in the saddle, the same communicative coherence of ethological language which works so well on the ground. This long experimental journey on various subjects brought me to achieve excellent and demonstrable results on various levels. Given the validity and naturalness of this method, (verified through the responses and consequently positive attitudes of the horse) and being able to execute all the figures of dressage in lightness using simply a head collar, the need to spread the use of this method could only become my principal objective. The F.E.E.L. school was born from all this. Sorry but I couldn’t cut it shorter than this. Thank you for your attention.
